A CHEF will bring diners mouthfuls of luxury at a champagne-fuelled evening this weekend.

Restaurant 56 in Faringdon will shower customers with fizz at a swish event on Saturday, which has been designed to celebrate its partnership with champagne brand Laurent-Perrier.

Executive head chef Andrew Scott and his team have crafted a five-course tasting menu, and passed each dish onto a Laurent-Perrier expert to select the perfect complimentary cuvée.

Mr Scott, who joined the hotel in 2013, said: "Having only recently partnered with the brand, we’ve created this exclusive evening event.

"It will not only showcase some of the very best seasonal ingredients, dishes and flavours from our tasting menus but also gives guests the opportunity to taste some of the best champagne, each expertly matched to each dish by some of the very best producers and tasters."

Three communal tables will each have space to seat eight guests, who can enjoy seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients.

Organised promised the mystery menu would be "packed full of flavour, colour and texture" and offer a "brilliantly unique culinary experience".

A spokesman for the event added: "The menu was created using contemporary and classical techniques to depict British dishes, many with a hint of nostalgia."

David Green, regional account manager at Laurent-Perrier, will mingle among guests in the dining room and talk through the champagne choices.

He will offer a potted history of the tipple's past and dole out discounts and special offers.

The restaurant has been open for little more than two years but has already been bestowed with three AA Rosettes and boasted the winning title in the Oxfordshire Restaurant Awards last year.

It is located inside the grade II listed wing of Sudbury House Hotel in London Street, which was given a dramatic renovation and refurbishment last year.

Its competes for customers' attention against the hotel's other eaterie Magnolia Brasserie, which offers a more relaxed atmosphere with an open kitchen and wood-burning stove.
