More than £3,300 has been raised for a group of charities following the chair of Oxfordshire County Council’s annual civic event.

The £3,389 raised will be divided equally among councillor Felix Bloomfield's 10 chosen charities, which include Sepsis UK, Thames Valley Air Ambulance, Cancer Research, Royal British Legion and SeeSaw, which offers grief support to children and young people in Oxfordshire.

The evening featured a performance by the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra string quartet and concluded with a charity auction and raffle.

The event took place at County Hall and saw the chair of West Oxfordshire District Council, the mayor of Didcot and the chief executive of Oxfordshire County Council all in attendance.

There were also charity representatives present, including those from Parkinson’s UK, which is also one of the chosen 10 charities.

Guests were also given a tour of the tunnels which are underneath the court room at Old County Hall.

Mr Bloomfield said: "I would like to say thanks to council staff for their hard work and dedication and to guests for attending and supporting me at the annual event that was held.

"I also offer a big thank you to the organisations and businesses that provided donations towards the raffle and auction."

Contributors to the raffle and auction included The Malmaison Oxford, Blenheim Palace, Oxford United, and Chiltern Railways among many others.
