Colin Allen has taken over as captain of Blewbury and Wallingford CC, who are preparing hard for another season in the Cherwell League.
Allen, who succeeds James Barrett, revealed the club were undergoing a rebranding exercise.
He said: “Our teams haven’t played in the town of Wallingford since financial issues led to the merger with Blewbury.
“Our home ground – with its excellent facilities – is now in that lovely village of Blewbury, but we want to connect with folk in both places.
“That’s why we’re rallying round a new nickname – the Blew Wallies – and planning a new website as well as other initiatives to attract new members and develop our thriving junior section.”
Nets for both young and seasoned cricketers begin at Moulsford School this Sunday, from 10am to midday.
