Wantage Town’s manager Stuart Cattell admits the loss of Jimmy Deabill is a big blow to the club.
The big striker left the Evo-Stik Southern League to join Kidlington, less than two months after his move from Didcot Town.
This followed on the heels of Ben Whitehead’s departure to Chippenham Town.
Cattell said: “We’re disappointed, because we worked so hard to get Jimmy to Wantage. It’s a big blow to lose Jimmy so soon after losing Ben, but it’s no good us stewing on it.”
Wantage, battling against relegation from Division 1 South & West, sec- ured a valuable point in their goalless draw away to local rivals Didcot Town last Tuesday.
Neither club played at the weekend.
Wantage’s match at home to Burnham, and Didcot’s trip to Taunton Town, were both called off due to waterlogged pitches.
They will be looking for better luck with the weather this Saturday when the Railwaymen entertain Winchester, while Wantage Town are at at home to Evesham United.
