GROVE produced a clinical display to beat Banbury 36-28 in a bruising encounter at Bodicote Park, writes Jack Johnson.

The south Oxfordshire side crossed four times in the South West 1 East clash.

Hosts Banbury led 14-3 after 15 minutes, with Chris Phillips and Carl Daniels crossing. Ed Phillips converted both.

Grove’s Sam Vaughan kicked a penalty in between the scores.

Steve Dixey dotted down for the visitors, with Vaughan adding the extras.

Ed Phillips kicked another penalty, but their opponents went on to dominate.

Dave Wells went over for an unconverted try and, after Banbury’s Cash Chilvers was sin-binned, Josh Tyler burst through to score

Vaughan converted for a 22-17 half-time lead.

Joe Chilvers was next to go over, with Vaughan, again, converting.

Two Ed Phillips penalties kept the home side in touch, but on 63 minutes Grove’s Connor Hull raced over and Vaughan kicked the points.

The visitors had Phil Durant sin-binned and Banbury’s Max Titchener forced his way over for an unconverted try.

In Southern Counties North, Wallingford lost 15-10 to High Wycombe.

Ben Cox completed a hat-trick of tries as newly-promoted Didcot made it back-to-back wins with a 41-7 victory over Risborough to go top of the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier League.

Playing at their new home, Boundary Park, they ran in seven tries.

Didcot led 24-0 at half-time, thanks to scores from Cox, Stephen Stone, John Madley and Alex Cleminson. Josh Witts converted twice.

Cox crossed for his second try, before Witts went over to make it 34-0.

The visitors responded with a converted penalty try, but Cox rounded off the victory with his third score, which Witts converted.
