BANBURY United are four points adrift of safety in Vanarama National League North after suffering a sixth defeat on the bounce.

The Puritans extended their miserable recent record with a 1-0 loss at home to Southport.

Marcus Carver scored the only goal of the game just after the hour mark.

Kevin Wilson’s side are third from bottom in the table, and host promotion hopefuls Boston United on Tuesday night.

North Leigh were beaten 2-0 at home to Kempston Rovers, who moved off the bottom of the table in Southern League Central Division. Gabriel Ward scored both goals for the visitors.

Kidlington edged a little clearer from the danger zone, thanks to a 1-0 win at home to promotion hopefuls Ware. Debutant Josh Davis netted the only goal of the game.

Thame United dropped to the bottom of the table after suffering a 2-1 defeat at AFC Dunstable.
